Description of the course
A fascination for aviation and technology and the ability to work in a team and take responsibility are just some aspects of the profession of air traffic controller (ATCO). Air traffic controllers are responsible for ensuring that air traffic is managed in a way that is safe, cost-effective and environmentally efficient. They monitor all the aircraft in their assigned airspace 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They communicate with pilots and with colleagues in their team and in neighbouring sectors. Air traffic controllers work in the control tower, in approach and departure control, in the control centres and as tactical fighter controllers in the Swiss Air Force Air Defence and Direction Centre.

Voraussetzungen
Entry requirements
- Baccalaureate or apprenticeship with Federal VET Diploma
- Swiss citizenship (essential for military air traffic controllers)
- Citizen of an EU-28/EFTA state or holder of a permanent residence permit (civil air traffic controllers)
- Between 18 and 28 years old
- German, French or Italian on level C1
- English on level B2
- Logical thinking and the ability to multitask
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team
- Extremely responsible and reliable
